Recommended Care for your Handmade Natural Soap

All our natural soap bars are handmade. No two bars will ever look exactly the same; nor are they always made by the same person. Colors and scents may also vary slightly from order to order. Sometimes the “batch” may seem to turn out better than others. This is all normal and should be expected when the items are made by hand. Of course, care is always taken to ensure that the general quality is similar, but some variations will likely occur.

 General Product Information

Our natural soaps are made with a base of natural ingredients including: coconut oil, canola oil, olive oil and palm oil. Our soap may also include essential oils, herbs, fragrances and colors for added appeal. They have been designed to have a generous, soft lather. Our natural soap bars are detergent free, therefore they are extremely mild.

 How is our natural soap different, and why?

You will find noticeable differences between our vegetable soap and commercial detergent soap bars. Our natural soap bars do not contain any synthetic solidifying agents: this makes them a softer bar. You may also notice that occasionally your new soap bar is extremely soft or oily; don’t be concerned, this is normal. The soaps are first made with water and oil. After the soap is made, a drying (or curing) time is required. A minimum of three weeks of curing is recommended; the more drying time the better. The soft oily effect will go away and a hard bar will result.

Caring for your handmade soap:

• When you first unwrap your new bar of natural soap, your soap bar is soft enough to be cut with any large knife if you desire.
• Before you use your new natural soap bar, we suggest you unwrap it and let it harden for at least two or three days (at a minimum) before you use it. This extra drying or curing time will allow your new soap bar to further harden and help it last that much longer.

• Buy ahead. Buy the soap and unwrap it. Place it in a dresser drawer for a couple of weeks before you use it. This will give the soap extra drying time and make your drawers smell great.

• Because your soap bar does not contain any synthetic solidifying agents, it can become mushy if left sitting in water. To ensure long life of your soap bar, rinse the excess lather off of it place your soap in a draining soap saver or soap dish that allows complete drainage of water from underneath the soap bar; you’ll enjoy your natural soap that much longer!
• Soap up a loofah with your soap instead of scrubbing your body with it to help your natural soap last longer.
• Finally, handmade soap does not last very long in the shower, because the constant exposure to spraying water makes the soap bery wet and mushy, making it very difficult to dry between showers. Shower gel works best in the shower!
